Advice please???

I go to the gym 3-5 days a week, normally 5. I have also hit a plateau in a big way. Do any of you know if I took a break from the working out for a while if I would start to see results again after I went back?? If so, how long of a break should I take? Please know that I am not looking for an excuse to stop working out. I have to stop myself from going everyday as it is.

My WW instructor said to take a week off and see what happens, then resume it. I don’t know if it will work or not, but I am in the same predicament. Good luck.

my advice - either completely change the workout from what ever u do. I.e. do swimming instead, do free weights instead of whatever u do usually, jump rope instead of tread mill. PLateau means your body is looking for a SHOCK - so shock it. Some people take a weeks break of no excercise & have a burger - then back to normal & things start shifting again.x Let me know which one works pls..!

Don’t stop! Consider changing up your routine, but most importantly make sure you’re eating enough. Perhaps eat more and you will see a difference. Esp. protien.

What about your food intake? Why don’t you track your food first and find out if the culprit for the plateau is there.

If food is not the issue, I say do take at most a 1 week break. And when you do go back to eat, eat a bit more so you can exercise harder and burn more calories.

Or just change up your routine - add weights, if you walk - run, if you swim laps - swim longer or do water aerobics…….etc.

I almost never go above my BMR which is 1550. I think I will take a week off, or maybe just do cardio for a while and do strength training after a week. Who knows??

lol… we know you are not looking for an excuse.

I hit a plateau a few months ago, and I know it can be SO miserable! Your doing everything right and nothing is happening! It stinks!

I took about a week off from exercising. But I still ate very healthy. When I got back to exercising it still took about a week or two before I finally started losing weight again.

Hope you get out of your plateau soon. Just don’t give up!!! :)
